1997 Hours: Xi Iota’s Founder’s Day Challenge

For almost two years, the Xi Iota Chapter has made fitness a chapter goal.  All of us want to be healthy, whatever our shape or size. Each one of us has set personal fitness goals and we support and encourage each other in meeting success. As a regional chapter, we are separated by the borders of the various states in which we live. However, working together as a group gives us an opportunity to bond with each other despite the distance that often separates us.

Our commitment to fitness is actively incorporated into all of our group meetings. At our retreats and other events, we always include an activity that gets us moving. It is my duty as Social Chair to discover new ways in which we can achieve our collective goal of staying active.

In my capacity as Social Chair, I came up with an idea to create a common goal that would also serve to help each of us stick to Lisa P_BIMour personal fitness goals. The chapter embraced the concept and thus began our challenge to log 1,997 hours of exercise by April 11, 2013, in honor of our National Founders Day and Theta Nu Xi’s annual theme, Butterflies in Motion. We started this challenge on January 14, 2013 and we have been going strong since then.  We exercise individually and as a group, with each sister logging her individual exercise times. Each week, I add all the logged times and announce our total hours to date.

In the past, the Xi Iota Chapter has participated in the Capital City Half Marathon (Columbus, OH) and The President‘s Challenge. Individually, sisters have participated in races and challenges all over the Midwest. From Barre to Zumba, and everything in between, there are a variety of ways we keep in shape and we are always excited to try new things.

You can keep up with our progress via Facebook and Twitter. And I’ll be back to share our results after Founder’s Day.

Happy Exercising!
